The Election Commission has asked Arvind Kejriwal for evidence to support his claim that Haryana is poisoning the Yamuna river. They reminded him of the legal provisions that can lead to imprisonment for making such statements. Kejriwal has been asked to provide details of the chemicals used and how Delhi Jal Board engineers detected and prevented it. Both the BJP and Congress have complained to the poll panel about Kejriwal’s allegations. Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has also raised concerns about rising ammonia levels in the water supplied to Delhi by Haryana. The EC is waiting for a factual report from the Haryana government on the issue.
