Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused former Jharkhand CM Champai Soren of being under surveillance by his own government for six months. Sarma, also the BJP co-in charge for Jharkhand elections, made the claim at a program where Soren joined the BJP after leaving the JMM. Sarma warned Chief Minister Hemant Soren of a “befitting reply” in two months. He criticized the “corrupt Hemant Soren government” for targeting Champai Soren. Elections for the 81-member Jharkhand assembly are expected later this year, with Sarma suggesting they will be announced in September.
