Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav vacated the Karhal seat after being elected as MP, leading to SP fielding Tej Pratap Singh Yadav there. The BJP declared seven out of nine candidates for the UP bypolls, including Anujesh Yadav facing off against Tej Pratap Singh in Karhal. Bypolls will be held on November 13 for nine out of 10 vacant seats in the UP Assembly, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23. The much-anticipated contest at the Milkipur seat was not announced due to a pending election petition in the Allahabad High Court. Both Deputy Chief Ministers of UP were involved in discussions before the release of the candidate list.
