Ashwini Vaishnaw Takes Charge as Information and Broadcasting Minister

Ashwini Vaishnaw, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, has taken charge as the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting. He also holds key portfolios such as Railways and Electronics and Information Technology. Vaishnaw succeeded Anurag Singh Thakur and is the 35th leader to hold this position since Independence. He is known for being a tough taskmaster and was inducted as a minister for the first time in July 2021. Vaishnaw emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on serving the poorest of the poor and highlighted the government’s efforts in welfare, youth empowerment, and women’s empowerment. He is a respected member of the BJP and a Rajya Sabha member from Odisha.
