Delhi AAP MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam has joined Congress, dealing a blow to AAP ahead of the upcoming Haryana Assembly polls. He joined Congress in the presence of party leaders. The move is significant for the Delhi Assembly election next year, as both parties are expected to hold alliance talks. Gautam cited the need for social justice and representation of the Bahujan community as reasons for his switch. Talks of a Congress-AAP alliance for the Haryana polls have also begun, with AAP MP Raghav Chadha meeting with Congress leaders. Gautam represents Seemapuri constituency and had served as a minister in the Delhi government before his removal.
