Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala met with Kerala Students Union (KSU) leaders who are in prison for assaulting an SFI activist at a youth festival. Chennithala criticized the police for arresting the KSU activists quickly but not taking action against the SFI leaders. He also blamed police inaction for the clashes at the festival. The remand report stated that the assault was premeditated and intended to cause harm. Chennithala justified his visit by saying it was not like CPM leaders meeting accused in another case.
