Wildlife defence mechanisms to be strengthened, says Kerala Forest Minister

Forest Minister A.K. Saseendran recently announced plans to strengthen wildlife defense mechanisms in the State. He emphasized the need to prevent loss of human life and damage to crops due to wildlife incursions. The Minister highlighted the use of solar hanging fencing as a successful experiment in some areas, but emphasized the importance of tailoring solutions to specific characteristics of each region. He also emphasized the importance of collective decision-making involving farmers, community representatives, officials, and the public. The Minister also focused on empowering employees through self-protection measures and transforming the Forest department into a more community-friendly entity. Additionally, he inaugurated new office buildings for the Rapid Response Team and Veterinary Complex under the Sanctuary.
