Wildlife attacks in Palappilly: women’s panel promises action



Indira Ravindran, a member of the Kerala Women’s Commission, has acknowledged the threats faced by workers in the Palappilly estate area due to wildlife attacks. She has assured that necessary actions will be taken in collaboration with the Forest department to address these issues. During a public hearing organized by the commission, female workers raised concerns about health issues and lack of essential facilities in the estate. The commission has recommended organizing medical camps every six months, ensuring access to drinking water, and timely pension benefits for retirement. They have also proposed amendments to the Dowry Prohibition Act and noted improvements in the functioning of Jagratha committees. The government has already taken steps on many of these recommendations based on detailed reports submitted by the commission.
