Water supply to city, adjoining areas disrupted in Kochi

Pipes supplying drinking water in Kochi city and surrounding areas have run dry due to a power disruption at the Aluva Pumping plant of the Kerala Water Authority. This has affected hundreds of consumers in the city and nearby local bodies. The disruption was caused by a snapped underground power supply cable laid by the Kerala State Electricity Board. KWA officials are working to restore the water supply, but it may take some time for the water to reach all areas. The Aluva plant provides a significant amount of drinking water daily, so until it is back online, only water from the Nettoor treatment plant will be available.
