Waqf Board ends 237-year-old discriminatory practice of Puthoorppally Muslim Jama-Ath

After 237 years of social ostracisation, the traditional Muslim barber community, Labba family group, and mosque employees at Puthoorppally Muslim Jama-Ath in Changanassery have finally been granted membership and voting rights. A meeting convened by the Kerala Waqf Board decided to end this injustice that lasted for centuries. The new members will be allowed to participate in general body meetings and receive all benefits like other members. The Board had previously urged the Jama-Ath to grant these rights and took a stand against discrimination. This decision marks a significant step towards upholding human rights and equality within the community.
