The vigilance probe against ADGP MR Ajith Kumar and former Malappuram SP Sujith Das is likely to be conducted as a single inquiry focusing on allegations of accepting bribes, misappropriation of seized gold, and cutting valuable trees. The investigation will be carried out by a special unit of the VACB with state-wide jurisdiction. Even though Ajith Kumar does not have control over VACB, officers facing serious charges are typically removed from their posts. The probe was ordered based on a petition filed by CPM-backed independent MLA PV Anvar, and vigilance director Yogesh Gupta will oversee the inquiry. LDF ally CPI has questioned the ADGP’s continued presence in his post.
