The VENDA Cup 2024, a football tournament organized by Project VENDA, began on October 28 in Kannur with the aim of engaging teenagers in sports to prevent substance abuse. Sixteen boys’ and sixteen girls’ teams will compete for final selections, with each participant receiving custom kits. Project VENDA, an initiative by the Fourth Wave Foundation, focuses on curbing substance abuse among teens in Kerala. Assistant Collector Saikrishna highlighted the importance of community stakeholders in creating a substance-free environment for children. The tournament’s theme, “Game for S.A.F.E. (Substance Abuse Free Environment),” reflects the mission of providing a safe platform for underprivileged youth to enjoy football and avoid high-risk behaviors.
