The MSC Claude Girardet, an ultra-large container vessel, made a historic visit to the Vizhinjam international seaport in Thiruvananthapuram. This massive vessel, with a capacity of 24,116 TEUs, is the largest container vessel to ever visit India and the largest to call at south Asian ports. The port’s ability to handle ULCVs marks a significant development for Kerala. The vessel arrived from Malaysia for container handling operations before returning. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hailed the arrival as a major step forward in Kerala’s development.
