UDF councillors pick holes in Minister’s claims about Brahmapuram

Opposition UDF councillors in the Kochi Corporation visited the Brahmapuram solid waste treatment plant and raised concerns about the proposed bio-park and compressed biogas plant. They criticized the Local Self-Government Minister for playing cricket as a publicity stunt while waste management issues persist. The plant is struggling to handle the daily waste influx, leading to waste piling up without proper treatment. The councillors accused the Minister and Mayor of misleading the public by creating a false impression of progress. They also highlighted the lack of plans for plastic waste treatment despite previous incidents of toxic gas emissions from burning plastic waste.
