Tourist guides in Kerala to be covered under welfare board, says Minister

Minister Mohamed Riyas announced that tourist guides will be included in the welfare board for employees in the tourism sector. This decision came after a meeting with representatives of the tourism guides’ association. The training programs at KIITS will now also cover foreign languages. Tour guide representatives requested inclusion in tourism stakeholder meetings and measures to distinguish government-approved guides from others. They also raised concerns about insufficient toilets and parking spaces at tourist sites in Kerala, which Minister Riyas promised to address with the government.
