Chelladurai, a resident of Bison Valley near Munnar, expressed deep concern about illegal constructions on the Chokramudi hills. The villagers formed the Chokramudi Protection Council to defend the hills, which are crucial for their livelihood and water supply. The movement aims to protect the hills from encroachment and preserve the unique ecosystem that includes the Neelakurinji flower. The government formed a special investigation team to address the issue of illegal land grabs on the hills. Environmental activists and experts suggest declaring the area a sanctuary to protect the hills and the wildlife they support. The community is determined to fight against encroachers and ensure the preservation of the Chokramudi hills.
