Three individuals were arrested in Malappuram for allegedly extorting Rs 10 lakh from Deputy Tahsildar PB Chalib by threatening him with a fabricated POCSO case. Chalib had been missing since Wednesday evening but returned home on Friday, citing mental stress as the reason for leaving. He had informed his wife that he was on an official duty but later went missing, prompting his family to file a missing person report. The three suspects reportedly threatened to destroy Chalib’s family’s reputation if he did not comply with their demands.
