Tamil Nadu engineers walk out of sub-committee inspection of Mullaperiyar dam



A sub-committee arrived at Thekkady to inspect the Mullaiperiyar Dam in Kerala, but the inspection could not be carried out as Tamil Nadu engineers walked out in protest. They were upset that Kerala had not allowed maintenance work at the dam site for six months. The sub-committee members from both states had assembled for the inspection, but the Tamil Nadu engineers raised the issue of lack of permission for maintenance work. Despite several reminders and discussions, permission was not granted and the Tamil Nadu engineers walked out of the inspection, highlighting the issue of the Kerala government’s attitude towards maintenance work at the dam site.
