The Supreme Court granted protection from arrest for two weeks to Malayalam actor Siddique in a sexual assault case. He had approached the court for anticipatory bail after being denied bail by the Kerala High Court. The High Court found grounds to register a criminal case against him, charging him with rape and criminal intimidation. The case was registered following the Justice Hema Committee report, which exposed cases of discrimination, sexual exploitation, and nepotism in the Malayalam film industry. Siddique has denied all allegations against him.
