The State government is encouraging private investors to take advantage of the potential of caravan tourism by providing subsidies for setting up caravan parks. The subsidies will be available for various categories, including independent houses that can be converted into caravan parks. Homestays, resorts, and plantations near tourism attractions can benefit from this scheme. The subsidy will cover up to 10% of the investment costs for setting up caravan parks. The first 50 caravan parks will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. The subsidy details vary depending on the type of caravan park, with different amounts allocated for different categories. Despite a lukewarm response initially, the State is hopeful that by providing subsidies for converting properties into caravan parks, the project will be rejuvenated in a short period of time.
