The State Human Rights Commission ordered an investigation into a complaint of assault by water authority officials on a consumer. The Commission directed a senior police officer to conduct the investigation and monitor the functioning of the Pongumoodu section. Statements from the victim, accused officials, and witnesses will be collected, and CCTV footage will be examined. The police have three weeks to submit a probe report to the district police chief, who will decide on registering an FIR. Any action taken must be reported to the Commission by March 3.
