Shoranur train accident: Kerala CM flags safety violations, seeks compensation for families

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has written to the Railway Minister requesting compensation for the families of four sanitation workers who tragically died after being hit by a train. He highlighted the lack of safety training for these workers and urged the Railways to ensure the safety of contract staff. The Railways stated that the workers had taken an unauthorized route on a bridge and action was being taken against the contractor for negligence. They also announced a payment of Rs 1 lakh to the families of the deceased workers.
