A man in Thiruvananthapuram district was sentenced to three-time rigorous imprisonment till death and fined Rs 1.90 lakh for sexually assaulting his daughter for nine years starting at the age of five. The court deemed the act as an insult to humanity and directed that Rs 1.50 lakh from the fine be given to the now 15-year-old victim. The accused, who was supposed to protect his daughter, committed the heinous crime, showing no mercy. The girl’s teachers noticed her distress, leading to the disclosure of the abuse. The accused’s current wife denied the allegations, but the prosecution presented strong evidence leading to his arrest and trial completion in a year.
