School of drama to host third International Festival of Theatre Schools in February

The School of Drama and Fine Arts in Thrissur, part of the University of Calicut, is set to host the International Festival of Theatre Schools (IFTS) from February 3 to 8, 2025. This year’s theme is Theatre and Ethics, with workshops, discussions, presentations, and performances by students from theatre schools worldwide. Around 200 participants are expected to attend, exploring how theatre can shape ethical values and contribute to education. The festival, known as the Carnival of Pedagogy, aims to highlight theatre’s potential for positive social change. The event will include research fellowships and the establishment of research chairs focusing on Asian performance traditions, Malayalam theatre, and applied theatre for social change.
