After a long delay, the Sasthamangalam-Peroorkada Road is finally getting an upgrade. The public works department has started maintenance work on the heavily damaged road, with the project expected to be completed by December. The chief engineer provided updates, stating that 75% of the drain works have been finished and the road will be tarred according to standards. The project, funded by the Smart City initiative, has a budget of Rs 12 crore. While it won’t be a smart road like Vazhuthacaud, the upgrade is much needed to improve conditions for commuters and reduce traffic congestion in the area. Residents and commuters are relieved that the repairs are finally underway.
