Producer Sandra Thomas has been expelled from the Kerala Film Producers’ Association for breaching disciplinary norms. The executive committee found that she had defamed committee members by making baseless allegations and not following association rules. In response, Thomas criticized the association as “anti-women” and accused them of failing to address issues raised by female members. The rift grew after Thomas criticized office-bearers for ignoring the Hema Committee report on women in the industry. A case was registered against 11 office-bearers and members following a complaint by a woman producer. Thomas had recently produced movies like Little Hearts and Nalla Nilavulla Rathri.
