The Kerala State Human Rights Commission is investigating a recent firecracker explosion at a temple in Kasaragod that left 154 people injured, with 10 in critical condition. The district collector and police chief have been directed to submit a report on the incident within 15 days. Firecrackers worth Rs 24,000 stored for a festival exploded, causing severe burns to eight individuals. A Special Investigation Team has been formed to probe the accident, and an independent inquiry is also being conducted. Preliminary findings suggest that safety protocols were not followed, as the detonation area was too close to the storage room.
