Members of the Self-Employed Women’s Association Union (SEWA-Union) marched to the Kochi Police Commissionerate demanding the immediate arrest of a man accused of raping a 22-year-old Dalit girl from Odisha. The police had registered an FIR against the accused, but there was alleged procrastination in making the arrest. The survivor was rescued with the help of the Centre for Migration and Inclusive Development staff. The incident came to light after the survivor shared her ordeal with a relative, who then alerted the authorities. The SEWA-Union called for justice and enforcement of rights for all workers, including migrants.
