The authorities at Maharaja’s College in Ernakulam have notified the parents of P.M. Arsho, the State secretary of the Students Federation of India (SFI), that he may be removed from the rolls of the integrated postgraduate programme in Archaeology and Material Cultural Studies due to a shortage of attendance. The Principal issued a notice stating that Arsho could not continue his academic program without meeting the minimum attendance requirements for the seventh semester. The college authorities mentioned that it is standard practice to inform parents of students with insufficient attendance before removing them from the roll. There were reports that Arsho may choose to exit the program after completing six semesters of study, but the authorities stated that he would not be issued a transfer certificate and provisional certificate if he chose this option. However, he would still receive a course completion certificate. In September, the Save University Campaign Committee alleged that Arsho was admitted to the seventh semester without passing the sixth-semester exam, and they petitioned Governor Arif Mohammed Khan for his removal from the college roll and action against the Principal for allowing this violation of regulations.
