Over 30 cases of malaria reported in Ernakulam in past two months



Ernakulam has seen a rise in malaria cases, with 32 confirmed cases reported between August and September. Most cases were caused by the less dangerous Plasmodium vivax species, with a few mixed infections reported. The majority of cases were imported from other states, highlighting the need for continued efforts in mosquito control. Malaria is transmitted through infected mosquitoes and early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent complications and further transmission. Dr. Rajeev Jayadevan emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to control the spread of the disease.
