The Customs Air Intelligence Unit at the Kochi airport stopped three separate attempts to smuggle gold, seizing over 1 kg of gold worth over ₹70 lakh. A woman passenger arriving from Jeddah was caught with eight gold bangles and two gold chains, while another passenger arriving from Kuwait was found with a gold chain. A man and woman duo were also intercepted with various gold items. The total value of the seized gold was ₹34.20 lakh. Investigations are ongoing into these smuggling attempts.
