Residents in Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram, have come together to cultivate pesticide-free flowers and vegetables for Onam. With the help of MLA VK Prasanth and Agricultural Officer Thushara Chandran, a two-acre plot was used for terrace farming, involving 12 residents. They have successfully grown a variety of vegetables and flowers, showcasing how vacant plots can be used productively. The initiative has caught the attention of passersby and students, inspiring them to start their own cultivation. The group plans to sell their produce at a Onam fete organized by Prasanth, with the profits going back to the farmers.
