Official gets four-year jail term in graft case



Former Muvattupuzha Revenue Divisional Officer V.R. Mohanan Pillai has been sentenced to four years in jail and fined ₹35,000 for corruption. He was found guilty of demanding a bribe for a construction project. The Vigilance special judge issued the sentence after the official was caught accepting the bribe. The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested him. The public prosecutor, V.A. Saritha, represented the case. The agency is encouraging the public to report instances of corruption through their toll-free number or WhatsApp.
