Muslim organizations in Kerala are calling for a peaceful resolution to the Waqf land issue affecting hundreds of families in Ernakulam. They believe the government should intervene legally and factually to resolve the crisis without causing communal tensions. Leaders from various Muslim groups are offering their support to help find a solution. The dispute over the land began in 2019 and has escalated to legal proceedings, causing distress to the residents. Meanwhile, the LDF is facing internal conflicts over the issue, with some leaders condemning the current law and supporting the protests against the Waqf Board’s claims. The Catholic Church is also involved in leading protests in the affected areas. The resolution passed in the Assembly argues that the proposed Bill violates fundamental rights and democracy, sparking objections from opposition parties. The Church has also sent letters to the Joint Parliamentary Committee, urging amendments to protect people at risk of losing their homes.
