A 38-year-old man from Edavanna panchayat in Malappuram, who recently returned from UAE, has tested positive for Mpox, an infectious disease caused by the monkeypox virus. He had symptoms like fever, headache, and body pain and sought treatment at a private hospital, which led to his isolation and testing. The health department has set up treatment and isolation facilities at 14 hospitals in the state and appointed nodal officers for each district. Further tests will be conducted to determine the strain of the virus. People are advised to seek treatment if they have symptoms and inform the health department.
