Minister to launch Kallai river revival project on October 22

The Kallai River in Kozhikode is set to undergo dredging work to clear silt and debris that has been blocking its flow. The project aims to revive the polluted river, which has been receiving industrial effluents and facing encroachment issues for years. The initiative, led by Minister Roshi Augustine and Mayor Beena Philip, will address waterlogging problems in the city and restore the river’s natural state. Despite challenges in contractor engagement, efforts by the Kallai River Protection Committee have been instrumental in pushing for the restoration of the river. The project is expected to benefit both the environment and the local community.
