State Goods and Services Tax officials have seized 104 kg of unaccounted gold in raids on gold jewellery-manufacturing units, wholesale outlets, and residences in Thrissur, Kerala. The raids, involving close to 700 officials, are said to be the largest of its kind in the state. Documents related to tax evasion have also been seized. The inspections have covered over 70 locations in Thrissur, a key hub for the gold trade. The raids are ongoing, and so far, penalties totaling ₹3.4 crore have been collected.
