Maradu municipality moves resolution seeking permanent exemption at Kumbalam toll plaza

The Maradu municipality passed a resolution seeking permanent toll exemption for motorists within the municipal limits at the Kumbalam toll plaza. The municipality argued that they fell within the 5-km radius of the plaza and should be granted the same exemption as Kumbalam panchayat residents. The resolution will be forwarded to Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and State PWD Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas. Initially, they had requested temporary exemption due to bridge closure causing traffic congestion, but later realized they were entitled to permanent exemption. The Collector has ordered completion of renovation works on bridges and deployment of more police personnel for traffic regulation.
