Man gets 78-year RI for sexually assaulting girl

A 32-year-old man was sentenced to 78 years of rigorous imprisonment by the Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Court for sexually abusing a minor girl. The accused, a relative of the survivor, was found guilty of various offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Information Technology Act. The court also imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh. The accused repeatedly abused the child, recorded videos of the assault, and threatened to circulate the footage. The crime was discovered when his wife found the video, leading to his arrest by the Pangode police. The prosecution presented strong evidence, including witness testimonies and exhibits, resulting in a just verdict.
