Livestock census begins in Kerala

The 21st Livestock Census has started in Kerala, with a focus on counting domestic animals and birds. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s wife, Kamala Vijayan, provided the information to enumerators at their official residence. The census is part of a nationwide effort and will last four months, with over 3,000 trained enumerators, including ‘Pashu Sakhis’ volunteers, visiting households and establishments. This data collection exercise, held once every five years, aims to gather comprehensive information on livestock populations in both rural and urban areas.
