Lack of safety measures turns mofussil bus stand into danger zone for pedestrians

Negligent driving by private bus drivers at the mofussil bus stand in Kozhikode is putting passengers at risk. The lack of speed-control measures and chaotic entry and exit of buses have led to an increase in accidents, especially involving pedestrians. Surveillance cameras are not being monitored, making it difficult to identify reckless drivers. Suggestions for improving safety protocols and redesigning the terminal have been proposed, but implementation has been slow. A long-term solution, such as a well-planned mobility hub, is needed to address these issues. However, financial constraints and land acquisition hurdles have stalled such projects, leaving the traffic situation at the bus stand a growing concern.
