Kundannur bridge repair: Demand for toll exemption

The Chairman of Maradu Municipality has requested that people in the Maradu region be exempted from paying toll at the Kumbalam toll plaza during the month-long closure of the Kundannur bridge for resurfacing work. He highlighted the impact of the previous closure on traffic and suggested allowing one-way traffic during milling of the bridge surface. The Minister for Public Works has announced the use of stone mastic asphalt for resurfacing the bridge, which is expected to be more durable. A budget of Rs 12.85 crore has been allocated for the resurfacing work from Kundannur Junction to CIFT Junction.
