Despite repeated protests and requests from passengers’ forums, political organizations, and local bodies, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has not taken any action to replace old buses used for rural services in Kozhikode. The lack of response to demands for new vehicles has raised concerns about passenger safety, especially on risky routes. Old buses have been involved in multiple accidents, yet authorities have not conducted necessary safety audits or withdrawn unfit vehicles from service. KSRTC claims that the delay in providing new vehicles is due to a shortage of funds and denies allegations of putting passengers at risk.
