The Congress party in Kerala is accusing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of trying to please majority communalism. Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala criticized Vijayan for his comments on gold smuggling and hawala cases in Malappuram district, demanding a public apology. Chennithala also alleged a conspiracy behind the chief minister’s remarks, suggesting the use of a PR agency. However, the Chief Minister’s Office clarified that Vijayan did not specify any location or use certain terms in his statement. Chennithala claimed that Vijayan is now focusing on appeasing majority communalism after the Lok Sabha poll defeat.
