Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal criticized Kannur District Collector Arun Vijayan for allegedly making a deceased colleague a scapegoat. Venugopal claimed that the Collector’s statement regarding the death of Naveen Babu was influenced by the CPI(M). He also accused the CPI(M) of practicing ‘cell rule’ in the State and alleged a deal between the BJP and CPI(M). Venugopal expressed confidence in the UDF’s unity for the byelection and predicted the CPI(M)’s downfall in Kerala. He warned against attempts to divide communities in Palakkad and vowed to reject such efforts.
