Jaundice cases: Water testing camp planned at Kommeri in Kerala’s Kozhikode

The Kozhikode Corporation, along with the Kerala Health department, is organizing a water testing camp in Kommeri due to 28 cases of jaundice in the area. A meeting was held with local councillors, health staff, and members of the health committee to discuss the situation. The affected individuals are from ward number 30, with one person in serious condition. The source of the contamination is believed to be one of the public wells supplying water to wards 28, 29, and 30, which tested positive for e. coli bacteria. Steps are being taken to inspect the distribution pipes and monitor the people’s committee managing water distribution. Awareness campaigns on hygiene will also be conducted. The health officer will assess the condition of the hospitalized girl.
