A meeting chaired by Mayor M. Anilkumar and attended by District Collector N.S.K. Umesh discussed the progress of Operation Breakthrough, a project aimed at resolving inundation in Kochi city. It was noted that the restoration of the 829 metre-long Mullaserry canal, part of the third phase of the project, was delayed despite multiple investments and an ultimatum was issued to the Irrigation department to complete the works by June. Other related projects, such as cleaning up the Perandoor canal and desilting the Chilavannoor canal, were also discussed with timelines set for completion. Various measures, including installing high-power pumps and ensuring proper slope for drains, were discussed to address flooding issues in the city.
