Industries Dept Director creates WhatsApp group of Hindu IAS officers, says account hacked

The Industries Department Director K Gopalakrishnan was caught in a controversy when screenshots of a WhatsApp group of ‘Hindu IAS officers’ that he administered were leaked to the media. He explained that the group was created to wish Diwali and not for any discriminatory purposes, as civil service officers are not allowed to make decisions based on caste or religion. Gopalakrishnan filed a complaint with the Cyber Cell, claiming that his WhatsApp account was hacked. The group was deleted once the screenshots were made public, and he personally messaged every member to clarify the situation.
