Independent filmmakers demand restructuring Film Academy, KSFDC

The Movement for Independent Cinema, made up of independent filmmakers, is calling for the reorganization of the State Chalachithra Academy and the State Film Development Corporation. They are advocating for an independent filmmaker to lead the Academy, as they believe appointing someone from commercial cinema would detract from promoting independent films. The Academy has been accused of favoring commercial films over independent ones. The State Film Development Corporation, led by filmmaker Shaji N. Karun, is also facing criticism and calls for restructuring. The Movement for Independent Cinema is pushing for these changes to better support and promote independent filmmakers in Kerala.
