The Cultural and Literary Workers’ Welfare Committee in Thiruvananthapuram is advocating for an increase in pension for impoverished artists, who currently receive Rs 1,600. They are also pushing for the scheme to be included in the cultural welfare fund without an age limit, allowing contributions to be paid in a lump sum. The committee plans to hold their fourth state conference in Varkala in October. The state leadership meeting, held at T A Majeed Memorial Hall, was attended by state patron M M Puravoor and presided over by state president Thottappally Gopalakrishnan, with the report presented by state secretary Prasannan Vadasserikkonam.
